At the moment it seems all I do is watering. This windy weather is really drying out the pots, especially the little shohin and mame bonsai need water up to three times a day.
I am trying to keep my maples (and Hornbeams)sheltered from the wind to prevent leaf burn.
Lets hope for some nice calm sunny days soon.

Chinese Elm Tanuki Update
It's nearly a year now since I started this little tanuki from a cutting. The video shows how the tree is doing and gives an outline to further development.
Enjoy!

Bonsai Stolen in the Yorkshire Area
Bonsai stolen in the Yorkshire area. Please follow the link below to the Internet Bonsai Club for further details. Giving exposure such as this makes these trees much harder to move. Please … if anyone thinks they may be able to help recover them, contact the owner (details on linked thread).
Please clickHERE
Please do consider getting your Bonsai security chipped. I realise this does not prevent them being stolen but does make identification easier.

Bonsai Car Boot / BOBB 2011
I am taking some of my "surplus" trees to the Bonsai Car Boot Sale at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Sunday, 13 March 2011.
I am looking to slim down my collection of trees and raise some cash to buy some pots and sundries.
Still hoping to make at least one of the days at the Best Of British Bonsai Event at the same venue. Missed last years due to illness. Here is a quick reminder of the details:

Larch Pruning
I have just competed the winter pruning on my Larches. I generally do this before the buds start to move, so that once the roots start pushing nutrients up the tree, it goes to the buds that I want to develop.
Building and maintaining ramification on larches is an ongoing proces and I have made a video that explains this process and also how branches are built up.

Signs of life
We had a good spell of relatively mild weather and things are starting to move. The smaller trees in the greenhouse (mainly Tridents, Maples and Chinese Elms) are all starting to push buds. Outside the European Hornbeams and also two of my Birches are also on the move and repotting is looming. Can't wait.
